Beginners bass guitar lessons –12 lessons at £24 per hour
For absolute beginners who want to play along with their favourite records for fun, or jam with their friends, or play in a band.
The course includes:
- Naming the strings and tuning
- Basic accompaniment patterns
- Introduction to the fretboard
- Rock and blues patterns
- Learning to read tab
- Pentatonic scales
- Blues scales and patterns
- Agility exercises
- Right hand techniques – pick and/or fingers
- Rhythmic exercises
This course is progressive and structured to get you to play at good beginner level as quickly as possible
Improver Bass Guitar lessons – 15 lessons at £24 per hour
Corresponds to Grades 2–3 of the London College of Music exams:
- Major scales for A B C D E G on the E and A strings
- Natural minor scales as above
- Pentatonic minor scales as above
- Blues scales
- Arpeggios – major – minor – dominant – min7 for all notes on E and A strings
- Rhythmic patterns include rock, ballad, dance, soul, pop, country, funk, reggae, electro, using root notes and 5ths for improvisation
Intermediate Bass Guitar – 20 lessons at £24 per hour
Covers Grade 3 – 5 Bass Guitar as above:
- Scales as above in all keys and relevant positions on the fretboard
- Arpeggios in all keys plus Sus4, major 6th, minor 6th
- Rhythm patters as above plus melodic rock, slow funk and R and B, minor jazz, rock blues, soul pop and indie using roots, 3rds, 5ths and 7ths notes and improvisation
Tailored courses for blues, funk, slap and jazz
Musicianship 15 lessons at £24 per hour
The course elements include:
- Fretboard knowledge – all notes on the fretboard up to the 12th fret on all strings
- Tab reading and music notation
- Aural skills – repetition of musical phrases and the ability to listen and play
- Repetition of rhythms
- Beating of time
- Harmonic knowledge and chord construction and voicing
